The Lumecca treatment by InMode is an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology. It is similar to laser technology but utilizes a spectrum of wavelengths (obtained through filters) rather than a single wavelength. The advantage of Lumecca over other IPL systems lies in its power and precision.
Indeed, Lumecca delivers three times more energy in the wavelength spectrum of 500 to 600 nm compared to other IPL systems, allowing it to effectively target vascular and pigmented lesions. This increase in power enhances the effectiveness of each treatment and reduces the number of sessions required. All areas of the body can be treated.
Lumecca helps to:
- Improve skin tone (photofacial)
- Treat pigmented spots (age spots, freckles)
- Treat superficial vascular lesions (telangiectasias, rosacea, ruby angiomas, couperose)
Result of Intense Pulsed Light
The duration of the treatment varies depending on the area being treated. The recovery period is short, with redness and burning usually disappearing within an hour after treatment. Pigmented spots may darken in the 48 hours following treatment, then peel off in the following week, leaving underlying lighter skin. It is recommended to avoid sun exposure in the month preceding treatment. For optimal results, 3 to 5 sessions may be necessary, with a maintenance session recommended annually. Regular use of sunscreen improves the durability of results.
Procedure
- The area to be treated is first cleaned.
- Protective glasses are then applied.
- The Lumecca treatment is performed. Minor pinching sensations may be felt during treatment.
- Soothing gel is applied at the end of the treatment.
